Epson printer on Mac OS

I think it started with Sonoma or Sequoia. Now I’m on Tahoe, and it’s still not resolved.

Add printer using + button having it discovered using Bonjour thing, choose Add, and forget about it, and print forever.

Well, ‘it started’, so it’s not as easy anymore.

Everything seems fine, at least until you try printing. It’ll either:
1. start looking for printer (otherwise appearing idle/green as if there were no problems), and keep doing it forever, or
2. start printing endless pages of printer code, as if it’s understood that when printer can’t convert the input to a single page we requested – we would be just equally happy to get dozen of pages filled with jiberish text instead.

So, in order to print normally, today I have to:
1. switch to IP method
2. manually enter my printer’s IP address
3. choose LPD
4. rename the printer, because by default it’ll use it’s IP address for name

Well, at least until (due to an update or whatever) – I need to delete printer and repeat the operation for the same above reasons.

And yeah – if you ask a family member to pull ALL the papers out of the printer (seemingly obvious – in order to stop wasting them), please beware they’ll hear it as ‘wait until printing junk pages is done, and bring me the complete result, so I can inspect what went wrong’. It’s you, not them.
